On Thursday afternoon (Feb. 12), ‘Ye drew an A-list crowd at his Adidas show for New York Fashion Week, but later in the night, it was his fans that assembled in the wintry New York weather for the first annual Roc City Classic concert.
After an introduction from Kevin Durant, Skylar Diggins and Angie Martinez, ‘Ye rewarded us brave souls by bringing along the G.O.O.D. Music family for an hour-long set that jumped from one hit to another, set against the backdrop of the iconic Flatiron Building.
Travi$ Scott opened the show with “Upper Echelon” and “Skyfall,” before Kanye took the stage to “Black Skinhead” in all his glory.
But he wasn’t feeling the solo vibes, summoning a sleeveless Pusha T shortly afterwards for “I Don’t Like,” before segueing into “Cold” and then bringing out both Big Sean and 2 Chainz for their hit “Mercy.”
The biggest surprise of the night, though, had to be the appearance of New Jersey rapper, Fetty Wap, who Kanye introduced as one of his favorite young artists, and teed him up for a performance of “Trap Queen.”
At this point, ‘Ye let his crew take the spotlight, giving Big Sean a chance to perform “IDFWU” and letting Pusha T take the entire stage for “Numbers on the Boards.”
Unlike most Kanye shows, there was no rant included in this set — unfortunately — and all he managed to sneak in was a little complaint that this show was “very unorganized for a Kanye West situation.”
The show must go on though, so after “New Slaves” and “Blood on the Leaves,” he wrapped things up with his latest single “Only One,” but we understood that it was way too cold for Nori to make a cameo.
Jay Z also all came to party with 'Kanye.
